Summary note
A file of correspondence, reports, and legal material concerning agricultural developments in Romania. The documents contain an article published in the Romanian press on the payment of labourers working on Romanian collective farms -- and a copy of a convention ratified by the Romanian and Bulgarian governments for the protection of farms against the spread of "pests, diseases, and weeds". The documents also discuss an agreement between the Romanian and Bulgarian governments to collaborate in the development of veterinary medicine. Other documents include a report produced by David Scott Fox, the British Ambassador to Romania, on developments in Romanian agriculture. The report covers how "Romania's agricultural output has increased very little since the war" -- the methods used by the Romanian government to ensure the "socialisation" of Romanian agriculture -- and Scott Fox's belief that "the unimpressive record of Romanian agriculture since the war is the more striking in view of the country's natural advantages".
