Summary note
A file containing documents concerning disputes between the United States of America and Czechoslovakia. The file includes a communiqué from the International Court of Justice (I.C.J.) announcing an application by the United States to institute proceedings against Czechoslovakia for alleged wrongful action against an American aircraft -- copies of the American application to the I.C.J. in French and English -- a public note from the Czechoslovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to the U.S. application -- and a map detailing the attack on the American aircraft. Other documents include an account of an incident in which three Czechoslovak border guards inadvertently crossed into West Germany -- a letter from the United States government to the U.N. Security Council complaining of an unprovoked attack on a U.S. Navy aircraft by the Soviet and Czechoslovak militaries -- and a report that the American Embassy in Prague is distributing American magazines to the Czechoslovak public.
