Notes
  • Decoration: Textblock border-ruled in double gold, blue and red. Rubrications in red. Dual-page polychrome illuminated first page-opening with text on cloudbands and blue and red floral radial line in the margins (f. 1v-2r). Polychrome gilded floral sunset and star-shaped medallions in the margins. Gilded polychrome sūrah headings with text in white ink. Gold roundels with pink and blue dots mark verse endings. Gilded polychrome floral designs and cloudbands around colophon (f. 346r).
  • Layout: 15 long lines; border-ruled.
  • Manuscript codex.
  • Origin: Copy completed in 1214 AH by ʻAlī al-Shukrī. Gilding and binding done by ʻAlī ibn Ḥamzah (f. 346r).
  • Script: Written in naskh in black ink; pointed, vocalized.

Bound in gold and red stamped brown morocco over pasteboard with flap. Covers have gilt stamped central mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis and cornerpieces all with red floral interior. The area between the mandorla and the cornerpieces is in relief. Gilt stamped frame with red floral fill and six red florets outlined in relief. Inside covers are red leather with gilt stamped central mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis, conerpieces, and frame. Endleaves of silver speckled, yellow paper. Front cover and flap are detached.
