Fragment of the Qurʼān including the end of al-Furqān, all of al-Shuʻarāʼ and the beginning of al-Naml (25:63 to 27:58).
Notes
  • Decoration: Gold florets with red and blue dots mark verse endings. Circular marginal medallions in gold, blue and red mark text partitions. Sūrah titles in gold. A piece of paper with the title for al-Furqān in gold has been added to the bottom of the last leaf (f. 33r).
  • Layout: 7 long lines with top and bottom line written larger.
  • Manuscript codex.
  • Origin: Item is undated, but perhaps copied in the 14th or 15th century.
  • Script: Written in naskh in black ink; pointed, vocalized.
  • Shelfmark: MS Or 327.

Binding note
Bound in reddish leather over pasteboard with flap. Front cover blind stamped with central medallion composed of seven small florets with radiant lines; blind stamped frame of sets of parallel lines and repeating geometric design along the outside edge. Back cover is badly water damaged. Flap hinge has been reinforced with black textile.
