Getty AAT genre
Composed of three prints by Dembour & Gangel (Metz, approximately 1840), mounted in one frame. Each print depicts a personification of a continent and is titled in French, Spanish and German. The print depicting Asia is pasted on the background. Two additional prints depict Europe and Africa, and are cut out into vertical strips and glued onto wooden slats fixed above the background print, creating an illusion or optical effect.
