The book is edited by artists Brady Marks and Mark Timmings, who have been inspired by the sonic phenomena produced by this small patch of Earth to create a 24-hour Slow Radio Broadcast, based on field recordings from the marsh, that radio stations across North America and Europe have aired on Earth Day since 2017; a musical arrangement titled Wetland Senario, co-composed with Stephen Morris and performed by vocal ensemble musica intima; and a new media installation that algorithmically transforms sound frequencies from the marsh recordings into pure colour fields in flux. Contributors to the book include novelist William Gibson, artist and scholar Dolleen Tisawii'ashii Manning of Kettle and Stoney Point First Nation, MP and former Green Party leader Elizabeth May, poet and spoken-word performer Susan McMaster, musicologist Stephen Morris, writer Alex Muir, poet and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nation member Philip Kevin Paul, Stó:lō artist, curator, and scholar Dylan Robinson, sound artist and World Soundscape Project member Hildegaard Westerkamp, and curator, writer, and PhD student Laurie White. The algorithmic flow of colour fields throughout the publication combined with photos of the project and an audio interface accessed using smartphones and tablet devices will give the book a colourful, music box-like quality."-- |cProvided by publisher. 650 0 Sound art |zBritish Columbia |zSaturna Island. 650 0 Environment (Art) |zBritish Columbia |zSaturna Island. 650 0 Wetlands |zBritish Columbia |zSaturna Island. 650 0 Sound in art. 650 0 Ecology in art. 650 0 Nature in art. 650 6 Art sonore |zColombie-Britannique |zSaturna, Île. 650 6 Environnement (Art) |zColombie-Britannique |zSaturna, Île. 650 6 Zones humides |zColombie-Britannique |zSaturna, Île. 650 6 Son dans l'art. 650 6 Écologie dans l'art. 650 6 Nature dans l'art. 650 7 Ecology in art. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00901556 650 7 Environment (Art) |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00912849 650 7 Nature in art. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01034679 650 7 Sound art. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst02023092 650 7 Sound in art. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01127003 650 7 Wetlands. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01174194 651 7 British Columbia |zSaturna Island. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01242722 655 7 sound art. |2aat 655 7 Sound art. |2lcgft 655 7 Art sonore. |2rvmgf 700 1 Marks, Brady, |eeditor. 700 1 Timmings, Mark, |eeditor. 902 000088300 |wcopy |120230516144345.0 914 (OCoLC)on1296532573 |bOCoLC |cmatch |d20230526 |eprocessed |f1296532573 980 230314 |e36.00 |f331876
