    אנשי לשון וספרות עסקו הרבה בשנים האחרונות בלשונות התרבות של החברה הערבית-היהודית בימי הביניים. חיבור זה מבקש להעריך מחדש את חלקן היחסי של הלשונות שפעלו במרחב: הלא הן העברית, הארמית, הערבית והערבית-יהודית. מפגשי עֵבֶר ועֲרָב עומד על טיבן של הלשונות הללו ונוגע גם בשאלות הקשורות לשימוש בהן במרכזי הפעילות החשובים בשירת החול ובשירת הקודש, בתרגומים וביצירה המקורית. הספר מביא סיכום עדכני של המחקר בנושא, ובחינה של טקסטים חדשים הקשורים בעניינים הללו: קטעים מתרגומי המקרא לערבית, וכן פיוטים, בקשה וקינה בערבית.
