Summary note
Description: Shows the Resolution and Discovery in Christmas Harbour, Kerguelen Island, in December 1776. A rowing boat of seamen is about to land on the shore; one man is already standing on shore. In the foreground is a dead seal or sea-lion being attacked by a large sea-bird, possibly an albatross. Penguins can be seen standing on the beach. There are several large rock formations across the bay, including an arched rock in the distance.
