Summary note
From its inception in 1911, the Committee on Public Health served as an important contributor to health care of New York City. Working closely with New York's Health Department, it held a distinguished advisory position until the committee's cessation during the Lindsay administration. Throughout its history, the Committee included and consulted with leading figures in public health with New York City and New York state, as well as key individuals in other parts of the country and abroad. This collection reflects both the significance and range of their work and offers an excellent illustration of the early impact that sharing information across state and national borders could have on local public health needs and outcomes.
