Summary note
Andy Freeberg (b. 1958) is an American photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He began his career as a photojournalist, and his work has appeared in publications including Time, Fortune, Rolling Stone, Village Voice and Der Spiegel. Freeberg combines the approaches of an investigator and storyteller, delivering a wry commentary on the conventions of the art industry.00He turns his lens on various scenes from the artworld, from the entry desks of New York galleries and the women who guard prestigious Russian art collections to gallery owners taking part in contemporary art fairs. In his latest series, Freeberg moves from public to private settings by portraying art advisors decorating the homes of nouveau riche customers in San Francisco. 00Exhibition: Serlachius Museum Gösta, Mänttä, Finland (26.03.-04.09.2022).
