Summary note
The book is a compilation by Roberto Di Stefano, one of the country's leading specialists in church history and religions. Published within the framework of the collection 'Cities and ideas' of the publishing house of the National University of Quilmes, it is composed of seven contributions made by historians from different universities. The originality of the volume lies on the one hand, in approaching the link between religion and city, and on the other, in doing so not only on Buenos Aires but also on cities of intermediate position such as Córdoba or Santa Fe, and even some strictly peripheral ones such as those of the Territorio Nacional de La Pampa (now Province). The authors present academic trajectories particularly oriented to research in church history and religions and are part of a team co-financed by the CONICET and the Agencia para la Promoción Científica y Tecnológica, whose most general objective is to identify the moments in which the religious conflict was placed at the center of the public scene and the way in which it affected the central inflections of Argentine history.
