Levene. 520 8 M. Fabius Quintilianus was a prominent orator, declaimer, and teacher of eloquence in the first century CE. After his retirement, he wrote the Institutio oratoria, a unique treatise in antiquity because it is both a handbook of rhetoric and an educational treatise. Quintilian's fame and influence are not only based on the Institutio, but also on the two collections of Declamations which were later attributed to him. This handbook aims to present Quintilian's Institutio as a key treatise in the history of Greco-Roman rhetoric and to trace its influence on the theory and practice of rhetoric and education up to the present day. 521 Specialized. 588 Description based on online resource; title from home page (viewed on December 6, 2021). 600 00 Quintilian. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80046563 650 0 Rhetoric, Ancient. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85113634 650 0 Education, Ancient. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85041052 700 1 Poel, Marc van der, |eeditor. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n93026778 700 1 Edwards, Michael, |eeditor. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n83064310 700 1 Murphy, James Jerome, |eeditor. |0http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n50026523 776 08 |iPrint version : |z9780198713784 830 0 Oxford handbooks online 956 40 |uhttps://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780198713784.001.0001
