Manuscript receipt book : a mid-Seventeenth Century Manuscript containing hundreds of recipes for alchemy, astrology, astronomy, chemical distillations and reactions, cookery, dream analysis, fishing, magic spells and charms (including love charms in a simple code) and talismans, natural and herbal medicine, natural phenomena and tricks, and physiognomic divination, and ending with a 19-page “A Catalogue of most Rare Bookes now in use within this nation” (ranging from Caxton’s Godefrey of Boloyne,1481, to books of the mid-1650s and including a few manuscripts and books on alchemy and chemistry).
