Summary note
  • Wangsimni: A poor working class man is unable to marry his true love because of social status. He later finds her and she is in desperate straits.
  • Chokpo: During Korea's period of Japanese occupation, a Japanese government official tries to persuade "Sol" ssi, a powerful old man in the town to change his last name into Japanese.
  • Tchakk'o: A rookie policeman loses his prisoner and then spends 30 years looking for him.
  • Mandara: The Buddhist monk Pubun has been wandering because of perplexed Buddhist idea. He meets Chisan who was once a monk, but is not any more because of violating Buddhist commandments. Pubun learns new Buddhist ideas through Chisan's own critical view of Korean Buddhism.
