Biographical/Historical note
Adedeji B. Badiru is a Professor of Systems Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). He is a registered professional engineer and a fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers as well as a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering. He has a BS degree in Industrial Engineering, MS in Mathematics, and MS in Industrial Engineering from Tennessee University, and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He is the author of several books and technical journal articles and has received several awards and recognitions for his accomplishments. LauraLee Cromarty has over 40 years€́™ experience in manufacturing, retail and service industries. She has worked on continuous improvement projects, managed operations and facilitated change. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. Lauralee is currently retired and a Small Business Mentor for SCORE Austin Chapter.
Summary note
Operational excellence, as a quest in the prevailing digital era, is predicated on a systems view of the operating environments in business, industry, government, academia, and other organizational entities. This book uses a systems-based approach to show how operational excellence can be pursued, achieved, and sustained. It offers a systems perspective for operational excellence and discusses the evolution of products from the classical operation era to present day digital operations. It covers the role of global markets on domestic operations, presents operational work design and ergonomics, and combines industrial engineering, advanced research, and practical experience. This book is auseful guide for scholars, practitioners and those involved in engineering, management, and business fields.
