Later that year, Roger Howe, a member of the U.S. National Commission on Mathematics Instruction (USNC/MI), reviewed the book for the Notices of the American Mathematical Society, concluding that it 'has lessons for all educational policymakers.' Intrigued by the idea of superrank teachers, the USNC/MI sponsored a workshop entitled 'The Teacher Development Continuum in the United States and China'. The purpose of the workshop was to examine the structure of the mathematics teaching profession in the United States and China. The main presentations and discussion from the workshop are summarized in this volume."--Publisher's description. 500 Summary of a workshop held in Newport Beach, Calif., July 31-Aug. 2, 2009, which brought together about 40 mathematics educators, mathematicians, education researchers, and other mathematics education specialists from the United States and China. 504 Includes bibliographical references (p. 39-40). 650 0 Mathematics |xStudy and teaching |zUnited States |vCongresses. 650 0 Mathematics |xStudy and teaching |zChina |vCongresses. 650 0 Mathematics teachers |xTraining of |zUnited States |vCongresses. 650 0 Mathematics teachers |xTraining of |zChina |vCongresses. 650 0 Master teachers |zUnited States |vCongresses. 650 0 Master teachers |zChina |vCongresses. 650 0 Teacher educators |zUnited States |vCongresses. 650 0 Teacher educators |zChina |vCongresses. 776 |z0-309-15163-5 700 1 Ferreras, Ana. 700 1 Olson, Steve, |d1956- 700 1 Sztein, A.
