"בחינת השיח על ממלכתיות בצבא, בעיקר הטענות על פגיעה בממלכתיות, מעלה שברוב המקרים הדוברים מתכוונים למה שהם תופסים כפגמים בצבא מבחינת המעמד של הדת, הדתיים או הדתיוּת. הטוענים לפגיעה בממלכתיות סבורים שהממלכתיות מאוימת על ידי מה שהם מתארים כתהליך "הדתה" של הצבא. כיצד יש להבין ביטוי זה, והאם צה"ל אכן עובר תהליך מדאיג של הדתה ואשר על כן מתחייב ביצורו של ערך הממלכתיות?" -- מהמעטפת הקדמית.
