Summary note
During the past year, when I worked on compiling my paintings in a book, it became clear that it is difficult to distinguish a chronological order. There is no clear direction of development. Instead, it turned out that in my work I have repeatedly returned to certain motives and emotional states. -Clara Gesang-Gottowt. Clara Gesang-Gottowt's paintings often have their origins in sensory experiences; by nature or by a certain material. Here is the sun, fire, sky and sea, the memory of tissue paper or the feeling of pulling your finger against a misty window. Her world of images is imaginative, the paintings show the places and rooms where memories and dreams are worked out. Time and time again, Gesang-Gottowt returns to certain motives and emotional states. Common to these recurring images is that the motifs are changeable, transient and untimely. Like the Light, the fire, the flower, the prism and the wave. They are about quietly accommodating the moving. If a state of appearance, or disappearance. She creates moods that evoke thoughts and memories in the viewer.
