Summary note

Migration has become one of the central fields of social understanding in recent years. The unforeseen arrival of refugees in late summer 2015 triggered new forms of regulating migration as well as dynamism in political positions and movements. Migration research is currently faced with the task of making escape visible not as a phenomenon to be researched in isolation, but as a constitutive element of society. The volume gathers contributions from various disciplines that take on this challenge in the reconstruction of current and historical social negotiations.
