"Written in Ojibway and painted on birchbark by Soloman James, chief of Shawanagaw Village for his son Louis, then aged twelve... [with] expressive illustrations of the hunting of animals found around Georgian Bay... [with] accompanying letter and translation made by a missionary for the local Indian agent" --Inside upper flap of dust jacket.
