Provenance
Princeton MS. 117 was written in Spain during the second half of the 15th century and probably brought to northern or central Europe by Sephardic Jews or conversos fleeing the Spanish Inquisition. Intermediate provenance is unknown. The manuscript was in the New York library of the American collector Robert Hoe (1839-1909). Cyrus Hall McCormick (1859-1936), Class of 1879, purchased the manuscript at the Hoe sale. Princeton MS. 117 was one of some 450 books and manuscripts donated to the Princeton University Library by McCormick's widow, Alice Brown (Mrs. Marshall Ludington Brown) on 14 January 1948.
