Notes
Script: Textualis semi-quadrata.
Decoration: Northern French. Includes 12 arched miniatures with full foliate and floriate frames on the opening leaves at primary textual divisions, and four small 7- to 8-line miniatures (ca. 38-43 x 38-40 mm) for suffrages.
Binding note
France, 19th century. Binder's ticket “Simier R du Roi.” René Simier was active in Paris from 1798 to 1826.
Provenance
Princeton MS. 111 is of unknown early provenance. The manuscript was acquired by Senator David Aiken Reed (1880-1953), of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Class of 1900, gave the manuscript to his first wife, Adèle W. Reed (d. 1948), and wrote her name on the former first flyleaf. Their daughter Rosamond Denby (Mrs. Charles Denby) donated the manuscript to the Princeton University Library in 1972 (accessioned as AM 20704).
