Provenance
Princeton MS. 30 was probably written and decorated in central Italy, possibly Siena, according to A.C. de la Mare. The manuscript is dated “xvi Kal. Junias mcccclv” (17 May 1455). The present manuscript was sold on 14 February 1913 as part of the Dunn sale at Sotheby's, London. The London bookselling firm of J. & J. Leighton purchased the manuscript and sold it to Robert W. Patterson (1850-1921), of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Class of 1876, the donor of the Robert Patterson '76 Collection of Editions of Horace, who gave this manuscript to the Princeton University Library. A presentation bookplate is on the inside front cover. Princeton Ms. 30 was accessioned on 13 June 1913 as no. 298299 and catalogued as Ms. 2865.1455.
