  • Script: Humanistica antiqua.
  • Decoration: Two 5-line gold initials, O and F opening the two texts on fols. 1r and 30r, with white vine-stem decoration on blue, green, and pink, outlined blue with tiny triple white dots, extending into left margin, at beginning of works.
Binding note
Italy (?), 18th century. Parchment over pasteboard; sewn on 4 bands. Spine title (written in ink): “Sallustii Histor. M.S.”
Provenance
Garrett MS. 112 was produced in Florence, in the mid-15th century, according to A.C. de la Mare. The Sallust manuscript was sold to the London bookseller Bernard Quaritch. It was in the collection of Coella Lindsay Ricketts (1860-1941), of Chicago. In September 1926, it was acquired by Robert Garrett (1875-1961), of Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 1897. His gift to the Princeton University Library, 1942.
