Summary note
Photograph album containing 9 copies and 56 original mounted albumen prints (measuring from 14 x 9.8 cm to 22 x 29 cm), among them a two-part folding photographic panorama (21 x 28.2 cm, each panel) of the city of Athens by Rhomaides. Included are images of ancient Greek and Byzantine monuments and sculpture such as the Parthenon in Acropolis, the Theater of Dionysus (Bacchus), the Arch of Hadrian, the Tower of Winds, the archaeological site of Eleusis, sculptures of the pediment of the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, the statue of Hermes of Praxiteles, the statue of Nike of Paiōnios, and grave stelae. There are also photographs of several places in Corfu, such as the citadel (Old Fortress), a main street view, the Pontikonisi, Potamos, and people in traditional clothing; some of the prints signed by Bartolomeo Borri. There are also images of Volos and the monasteries of the Holy Meteora in Kalabaka in Thessaly signed by S. Stournaras; an image of a ship, as well as one of the crew on board. Photographs are placed one per page both in recto and verso. Included also a loose photograph.
