This map is the result of the excavations and research conducted at the Mayan site of Tikal under the auspices of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and the government of Guatemala from 1956 through 1969.
Shows locations of mayan ruins structures, ruins of 19th century villages, stelas, altars, chultuns (man made water reservoirs), natural reservoirs, swamps, ancient quarries, roads and trails.
"Edwin M. Shook field Director of the Tikal Project; University Museum Director, Froelich Rainey".
On the back of the report is included a key table used for sites on the map and a nomenclature used by previous archaeologist titled: "New structure numeration and equivalences with previous designations". (Cmpiled by Willian A. Haviland).
Includes "Location diagram."
Map Collection holdings are: Bejucal Quadrangle -- Encanto Quadrangle -- Temple of the Inscription Quadrangle.The missing seven maps were photocopied.
