Summary note
Strauss and Hofmannsthal's masterpiece stars Violeta Urmana in the tour-de-force title role and Joyce DiDonato as the high-minded young Composer of the opera-within-an-opera. The performance of his serious work is interrupted to comic effect by the arrival of Zerbinetta (Kathleen Kim) and her commedia dell'arte troupe. Robert Dean Smith sings the god Bacchus who leads the grieving Ariadne away to a new life. Thomas Allen is the Music Master and Fabio Luisi conducts.

Schläft sie?
Wo war ich
Wie jung und schön
Ein Schönes war
Lieben, Hassen
Es gibt ein Reich
Die Dame gibt mit trübem Sinn
Großmächtige Prinzessin
Noch glaub' ich dem einem
Hübsch gepredigt aber tauben Ohren
Eine Störrische zu trösten
Ein schönes Wunder
Circe, Circe, Töne, Töne
Doch da ich unverwandelt
Circe, Circe
Ich grüße dich
Das waren Zauberworte
Gibt es kein Hinüber?
Du! Alles du!
Töne, töne
Was hängt mir
Deiner hab ich um alles bedurft.
