    • Depiction: Seascape, man, two women, girl on left finds sailor on sandy shore, rocks, stern of boat left middle ground.
    • Unsigned.
    • The sailor being rescued is similar to the man on a mast in 'Misery first published in 1786 e.g. see https://www.royalcollection.org.uk/collection/search#/1/collection/810184. Rowlandson's brother James was in the merchant navy and drowned in.
