Item description: Title page of an illustrated storybook of tales from the Yoshiwara pleasure district in Edo. The stories include as listed in the heading: Courtesan Takao at the Height of Popularity (Takao no zensei) and Stingy Crowds (Yasune no gunshû).
Provenance: Purchased at one of three 1947 sales at Parke-Bernet or at Gimbels Department Store, New York City.
Signed: Hishikawa Moronobu zu.
