  • Depiction: Fat man in chair drinks from jug.
  • Inscribed in pencil, upper left: "Drinking water is [illegible] for a fever".
  • Watermark [partial]: "Pro Patria".
  • Unsigned.
  • Richardson's parents lived in Richmond in the 1760's and his brother and sister were born there (See Payne & Payne 2010 p 11 and he made at least one visit in the 1780s (op cit p 100). The title on this small sketch may provide a clue to a lower righter drawing.
