Notes
A rare and important collection (circa 180 items) printed and published by Jewish underground movements towards the end of the Mandate. It highlights the declining relationship between the Yishuv and the British Mandatory authorities and the Palestine Government. After WW2 the British Empire was under considerable strain especially in India and Palestine and ultimately Britain handed the Palestine issue to the United Nations. The material is published principally by 3 organisations (Haganah, Irgun and Leḥi, mostly during the period 1946-1948 with a few earlier pieces. It was illegally published and if found by the British was destroyed and those found distributing it were severely punished therefore places of printing and printers are not identified only organizations. The vast of majority of the items are in Hebrew there are a few in English. And at least one in French.
