清代龙袍起源于后金,形成于顺治,发展于康熙,成熟于雍正,定型于乾隆中期,代表了清代皇家织绣技艺的最高水平.其装饰起初深受明代影响,后形成独立的风格.目前,人们对清代龙袍的认识主要集中在乾隆以后,清前期提及不多.本书基于大量的历史文献,实物调查,系统地研究了清代龙袍的产生,制度的形成,制作的方法,纹样类型及风格演变,其中较大篇幅地论述了清前期的龙袍.此外,书中也结合时下热点探讨了清代龙袍的断代问题,并提出断代的方法.
