Summary note
Contains four items that provide background information of Christian kamishibai donated by Fred G. Notehelfer. (The donation consists of 23 titles of kamishibai. Eighteen of them are original paintings made by T. Yoshioka between the late 1930s through 1954, and five others are commercial publications.) Included are: (1) 1 black-and-white photograph, 21.5 x 28 cm, dated in the late 1930s, showing Reverend J. Karl Notehelfer, the donor's father, with Japanese children and a kamishibai box in the foreground; (2) A letter from donor to the Cotsen Children's Library, 2 pages, dated August 31, 2013; (3) 1 CD, dated August 20-30, 2013, sent with the letter, containing digital photographs in JEPG images of the 18 original kamishibai and annotations in PDF files, photographed and annotated by donor; (4) Printout of email communications between donor and the Cotsen Children's Library, 3 pages, dated May 15-16, 2014, concerning information about the painter T. Yoshioka and the creation and uses of the kamishibai collection.
