Included also is a letter from the Abbot of the Monastery of Raitho, John, to St. John of the Ladder, as well as a speech at the end of the book "on the pastor," which highlights the ideal features that should adorn a pastor and teachers of the Church. The second part of the manuscript consists of thirty chapters, a treatise, which is known as "Ladder of Divine Ascent" and describes the spiritual reasons and tips for an ascetic life.
