Summary note
Folding panorama consisting of six mounted albumen prints (20.9 cm x 24 cm. each); the first and the last prints affixed to the inside front and back cover and the remainder mounted on card-stock leaves joined accordion style with cloth tapes, forming a continuous panoramic view of the city of Athens, Greece and the surrounding classical and Byzantine monuments. Included are the Theseion [Hephaisteion] on the second print, a photograph taken from the hill of Philopappus; the Lycabettus Mount with the church of Saint Georgios on top of the hill (third print) and the Greek Parliament in the background; the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens (in the foreground of the Parliament); the Acropolis with the Parthenon (fourth and fifth prints); the Sacred Way; and the Hill of Philopappus with its ancient Greek mausoleum (sixth print). Images date the decade of 1880s.
