Summary note
Photograph album of 50 photographs (4.5" x 6.5") depicting Tunis, Tripoli, Sahara Desert, Malta, Athens, Corfu, and other scenes. Black and white silver gelatin prints, mounted in album windows, two per face on both sides of album pages. Padded cloth album, re-backed. The front cover depicts a sketch of an Arab riding a camel, holding a flag. The photographs include: the Triest Canal Grande; women walking on a pathway in Tunis; street scenes in Tunis; Carthago Cisterne; men and camels in the Sahara Desert; coastal views of Malta, with sailboats and ships. For many years, Lehnert and Landrock's photographs epitomized the romance of North Africa with many images becoming the icons by which the Mediterranean Arab world became widely known.
