Title page imprint reads: "Voll, II."
Illustrations: Engraved frontispieces (on both recto and verso of first leaf) in black and red, with engraved vignettes throughout in red or black; text on each page (punched into the plates) is printed in same color as illustrations.
Illustrated publisher's advertisement for "The Child's New Plaything" on p. 64, signed below "N. Lovechild" and priced at one shilling.
Cotsen copy: Inscribed on frontispiece recto: "Rachel Gyles," and on front free endpaper verso: "Rachel," with an inscribed "R" with additional (illegible) writing above, all apparently by a child reader.
Cotsen copy: Inscribed in pencil on blank endpaper facing frontispiece: "E. J. Collings" (possibly Edward J. Collings).
Binding note
Cotsen copy: 20th century green quarter-morocco, gilt-stamped on spine with title, marbled paper-covered boards.
