Notes
Title from Prologus, leaf [1]1.
Imprint from Goff.
Signatures: [1-9]⁸ [10]¹⁰.
On leaf [10]4, line 1, some copies have the reading "temp[or]e" instead of "tempore."
ExI copy: Inside the upper boards is one half of a manuscript indulgence on vellum, issued in the name of Konrad [von Thüngen], bishop of Würzburg, and dated 1523, on the day of St. Thomas the Apostle. The indulgence seems to be for the purpose of rebuilding an Augustinian monastery.
ExI copy: First initial in red with penwork decoration, 2- to 5- line initials in red, red initial strokes, paraphs, and underlining, manuscript quire numbers.
Binding note
ExI copy: Bound in 19th century blind-stamped vellum over (original?) wooden boards, with intricate decoration in low relief of monkeys, cherubbs, birds, lizards and dragons.
Provenance
ExI copy: Bookplate of William O'Brien (1832-1899), Irish judge and book collector who bequathed his library to the Jesuit community at Milltown Park, Dublin (book label from the Library in Milltown Park on verso of front flyleaf).
