Summary note
Oblong photograph album with 26 albumen prints (measuring between 21.5 x 29 to 28.5 x 38.3 cm.), pasted on cardboard, of monuments and views of Athens. Subjects include the Acropolis with the Parthenon, the Erechtheum, the Propylaia, the Temple of Hephaestus, the Temple of Jupiter, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Hadrian Arch, the Monument of Philopappus, the Lysicrates monument, view of the city of Athens with the Greek Parliament and the Lycabettus mountain on the background, the Byzantine church of Panaghia Pantanassa (Athens), and a panoramic view of Hermoupolē (Syros). 15 of the photographs signed on the print by Beck and 11 by Konstantinou. A few photographs are slightly yellowed and/or soiled.

  • Album inscribed to Monsieur Kjoer by the Greek politician Thrasyvoulos Zaimēs (Copenhagen, June 11, 1863), with a a carte de visite portrait of the latter. Inscription in French on front free endpaper reads: "Monsieur Kjoer / souvenir d'amitie et d'affection / Copenhague le 11 juin / 1863 / Th. A. Zaimis."
