    Summary note
Abrahão Sanovicz (Santos, SP, 1933 - São Paulo, SP, 1999) before entering the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo - FAU / USP studied drawing, while attending the gymnasium. As an architect, Sanovicz followed strict methodology and discipline: he studied the environment and the configuration of the terrain on which the project would be implemented. In the 1960s he designed school buildings for the IPESP (Institute of Social Security of the State of São Paulo); In the 1970s he participated in the first redevelopment project of the Anhangabaú Valley, in São Paulo, coordinated by Vilanova Artigas; Worked with Edson Elito in the 1980s and 1990s, with whom he developed works such as the Forum of Bragança in São Paulo, and the school buildings for the Foundation for the Development of Education (FDE); And also developed the project for Senac Jundiaí (1998) and Sesc Araraquara (1999). Sanovicz also worked as professor in the course of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo from 1962 to 1999. Sanovicz was the first way of thinking about architecture and the main tool of the architect. Sanovicz was able to use this language beyond his trade, creating a private and autonomous atmosphere. For him, drawing was a permanent habit. In his production there are tributes that Abrahão made to artists whose works were references to him and formed him as a professional: Lucio Costa, Niemeyer, Artigas, Burle Marx, Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe. In the motifs of his illustrations, it is possible to see that business meetings and other day-to-day events could easily become objects of his drawings. Organized by Fernanda Sanovicz, granddaughter of the architect, the book Abrahão Sanovicz: drawings and prints gathers a selection made from a large number of drawings produced by Abrahão for more than 30 years. From this collection, the images that make up the book were distributed by themes: people and daily life, nudes, objects, meetings, landscapes, words, sketches, homages. Thus, the book reflects, sometimes in a humorous way, the thought of Sanovicz on this language: "Everybody should do at least one drawing per day". In addition to the drawings and some engravings, the book also has a consistent profile on the life and work of Sanovicz written by Dr. Helena Ayoub Machado, a professor at FAU-USP and former student of Sanovicz. In this essay, she discusses the production of Sanovicz - buildings, urbanization, visual communication and industrial design - in the context of Brazilian architectural production, as well as discusses her work as a teacher and presents an analysis about her drawings.
