    Summary note
Bogota is proposed as a fascinating case study to understand the logic of the contemporary city in the Latin American context. The book investigated, causative, revealing city that escapes static concepts, as an exercise of urban and architectonic understanding. The city investigated, is looked at from three phenomena: Dilation is the first approach to the city. This phenomenon explains how in a city like Bogotá, devourer of territory and with an important relation between the historical center and the periphery, the systems of private mobility predominate, the few means of massive transport and the conversion the infrastructure in structuring elements Of everyday life. To arrive from one point to another in a day extended in time and space becomes a common exercise. The platform, as a public space for slowed practices, disappears and moves to other places. The second phenomenon is compression, a product of expansion, which turns architecture and private buildings, or that which is occluded, into the perfect fortifications of a city immersed in intense days of urban survival and inefficiency. The action of reaching the house preponderates on the idea of ??home or housing, that is, all seek compaction and this concept prevails over any other. Finally, we find the emulsion, where the mutation of public space in the contemporary city manifests itself. The commercial centers are part of this phenomenon and, through the study of this type of buildings, it is possible to understand parts of the city investigated and it is possible to make crisis of the classic concepts of city. The city investigated and its phenomena construct the central idea of ??this argument: the commercial centers like generators of a new city.
