Summary note
This volume looks at the dynamics of ends of empires which explain why the process of ending empire is often so long and protracted, how and why imperial projects are pursued by other means, and why the formal end of an empire--insofar as it is possible to identify that end point precisely--does not culminate in a radical divorce between the two sides of the imperial relationship and does not lead to a clean break with the colonial order.-- Provided by Publisher.
