Summary note:
This wood block printed sheet contains 9 miniature pages that comprise chapters 5 and 6 of the elementary-level reader. On the left-hand corner, it indicates that this is one of three, suggesting that there were three sheets altogether, probably containing two chapters per sheet. Each of the 9 pages is illustrated with two or three color illustrations for a total of 22 illustrations, each with a brief moral lesson or description in hiragana to go with it. A line separates one story from the next. The stories describe what is happening in the pictures and cover a wide range of topics from both the human and natural realms.
