Summary note
At the end of the nineteenth century and in the early twentieth century, science caught the attention of many media outlets in Argentina. Many stories that appeared in the science pages also involved occultism, spiritualism and paranormal phenomena that astonished the public and scientists. In this book, researcher Soledad Quereilhac provides an in-depth account of mass media outlets during those years -- such as La Nación newspaper and the magazine Caras y Caretas -- and dissects the importance of "scientific" pieces of news, analyzing them alongside the increasing number of fantasy stories that were written by renowned authors during the time.
