Explanation of the abridgement. For the purpose of compressing the abstract of poor returns into one volume, the fractional parts of a pound have been omitted in all the columns; except in those of charitable donations, many of which donations are so small, that the exact amount becomes of comparative importance, and therefore the shillings, pence, and farthings are inserted; as they are also in the county totals of all the money columns, and in the grand total of the entire abstract.
